SEO, or Search Engine Optimisation is complicated. It is often difficult to explain to a client what it is, how it’s developed and implemented and what it needs to work properly. All those considerations aside there is little argument that SEO is essential to driving traffic and converting the traffic to the desired end goal, be it email capture, a checkout cart or other final objective.
When speaking to an SEO specialist most people hear all sorts of jargon and in no time their eyes glaze over. There are two parts to the technical side of SEO—on page SEO and off page SEO. Each of these has can be subdivided into subsections too.
Windows XP has been doing its business for over a decade but now the time has come where it is being phased out. The support ends this month, which means that Microsoft is no longer offering updates for XP. These updates are mainly security updates which means your computer will be exposed to many security risks. Any update patches issued up to this date will still be available to download. However, if a new flaw is discovered and exposed in the system then it will simply be left exposed and open for exploitation. This means that there will be the potential for hackers to target people which will result in an infected Windows XP machine.
With Microsoft eventually phasing out their Small Business Server and pushing people to move to the cloud, there are alternatives out there that businesses can use.
The first is the SME server. This is open source and is a community-supported SME server. It is available as a downloadable ISO that can be downloaded and installed in under 20 minutes. Linux based, it can provide a host of services and can integrate Windows, Mac and Linux Clients within a network environment.
The basis for using a hosted exchange is first that it offers improved communication. It allows communication via desktop clients, web-based clients and mobile devices. It also allows the possibility of accessing the exchange server from anywhere, enabling the user to be more hands-on. With the ability to access the account from anywhere, it means that emails and everything else required are on hand. This allows an increase in productivity and the ability to stay connected.
Whilst mobile devices allow work to be undertaken efficiently and more collaboratively there is always a risk to having another form of technology involved where date can be shared easily but also misused. Many work places now have the worry of workers sharing corporate information by uploading it to online storage. The issue of staff taking their own devices to the workplace means that the devices are not managed and pose a serious security risk. Managing this can be difficult but still many businesses allow employees to use their own devices to view and use important date related to the business.
A modern web filter can now offer far superior security than older versions, and can help to understand traffic from the web, making it easier to filter out sections of webpages that are forbidden.
